This story is one of hard work, determination and the courage to break away from tradition. This story is about Mohan Thakur who was born into a humble family with deep roots in the barbering tradition. Mohan’s Grandfather and father were well known in the community for their skills with scissors and razor, but it didn’t bring much money and respect. As a child, Mohan helped his father with their barbering services and learned the craft through direct experience.
However, his father’s dreams for him were much grander- a life beyond the scissors and razors. In efforts to secure and provide a brighter future for Mohan, his father pushed him to break with family tradition and pursue a more respectful and financially stable career. But Mohan, with his own distinct vision, chose a path that went against these expectations. While working in the family shop, he enrolled in college, and soon earned a bachelor’s degree. It was while working for an NGO that he realized he could transform the very tradition his father had hoped him to leave behind.
Mohan envisioned the possibility of transforming barbering into something sophisticated, stylish, and aspirational. Although his family didn’t support his new idea, Mohan decided to follow his passion. He dedicated himself to advanced hairstyling and salon management, seeking out the best in the industry across various cities. Each new skill and salon visit strengthened his determination to prove that the traditional craft could evolve into something far more luxurious. Despite initial struggles and family disapproval, Mohan opened his first high-end salon in Butwal, a risky and daring move that people questioned and were unsure about.
But Mohan’s vision was clear; to create a space that would not just cut hair, but also deliver an experience. It was his accurate attention to detail, Commitment to customer service, and a flair for style that quickly elevated his salon to the region’s new standard. Today, Mohan’s journey stands as a powerful example that high thinking of innovation and dedication can transform even the most traditional crafts into modernized and improved versions. His journey from Devdaha, starting with a small shop to an advanced salon in Butwal, his story is one of proving people wrong, embracing change, and proving that with passion and determination dreams can indeed be created into reality.
